We are currently planning on producing three original short films, each an independent story exploring different theme and from different perspective, to present a palette of young Chinese living in Australia and their reflection on life away from home and its nuances.

The first short will be directed by Karen.  In over half a year, going through much grinding, with suggestions from club members and under the guidance of the artistic directors, Karen took up the challenge and her script is now close to the final draft.  All other club members have picked their own  role in supporting the making of the film, from production manager to photography and art direction etc.  Everyone is in a fighting mode and high spirit.  The plan is to start shooting at the second half of the year.  Filming equipment will be provided by the artistic directors and some club members.  Everyone will be sharing and collaborating and doing what they feel is what they can do best.

The second and third shorts are in their initial development stage and have chosen their subject matters, and will be written by Yannes and Adrian.

Stay tuned and join us in witnessing the birth of some original stories.

Besides initiating original stories, we also have plans for documentary projects. The first documentary will be directed by Paul.  In spite of having no filming experience,  Paul has been involved in many Chinese community activities since living in Melbourne.  He had come across many Chinese Australians from all walks of life who had made their home here, and heard many of their stories,  some fascinating, at times sad but all interesting.  He was struck by the fact that although Chinese migration to Australia has begun from over 170 years ago, there had been very little recorded of this history, neither on sound or image. Two years ago he began to mull the idea of capturing their stories on screen, so as to preserve this valuable history.  Now, with the coming of the Film Society of Chinese Australians (FSOCA), he believes the opportunity has arrived for him to work with like-minded people to bring this dream to life. The goal is to produce a documentary series tentatively titled “Stories of One Hundred Chinese”.

The first episode is scheduled to begin shooting in August 2025.
